Stanley’s Shoes 2

This is a Shire horse in stainless steel. It has the shoes from a Shire from Wimpole Hall Stables, they are Stanley’s. Stanley’s Shoes is a study of the working horse, and has been at a number of sculpture trails at Raveningham, Norfolk, Beaulieu House, Hampshire, and Doddington Hall, Lincolnshire. Stanley’s Shoes has his winter stabling at Colmworth Golf Club.

Cross of Nails

Cut Clasp nails. This consists of a series of small crosses, one nail cut in half, 2 nails welded together (tip over lapping tip), the nail cut in half is then welded to the other two, forming a small cross. These small crosses are then welded together forming the large cross of nails. This has been exhibited at Cockington Court, Devon, and Altered State Sculpture Exhibition, at Shaw House, Newbury.

Equus Ferrous No.3

Mild steel. The notion was that I would create a series of these horses in a number of beats of the horse in motion. I wanted to then photograph them in poses, it was inspired by the photographic works of Eadweard Muybridge. The work of Muybridge was the first proof that the horse was “in suspension” during galloping.
